GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - One woman was killed and another was seriously injured when a car driven by a Philadelphia woman struck them as they walked on a sidewalk in southern New Jersey.

Galloway Township police say the accident occurred around 9:35 a.m. Wednesday on Leipzig Avenue, near St. Andrews Drive. They say 41-year-old Sharon Musher lost control of her vehicle, which left the roadway and struck the pedestrians before hitting a tree.

Sixty-seven-year-old township resident Elizabeth Torpey was pronounced dead at the scene, while 73-year-old Anna Jordan, also of Galloway, was taken to a hospital with what authorities say were “multiple injuries.”

Musher suffered minor injuries in the accident and was being treated at a hospital.

Authorities say the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
