BOSTON (AP) - Four men and a woman have been charged in connection with a brawl on a Boston subway car that left several people injured.

Prosecutors say two of the alleged attackers in the March 9 fight on the Red Line train were on probation for earlier serious offenses.

All five face assault and battery charges. Four have been released on bail after pleading not guilty while a fifth awaits arraignment.

MBTA police say the attack occurred after a 40-year-old man had an argument with the alleged assailants. Five teenagers from Rhode Island came to his aid.

The older man was taken to a hospital while the teens, who had attended a Celtics game, were treated at the scene.

Another passenger took video of the brawl on his cellphone.
