BUTTE, Mont. (AP) - Law enforcement officers in Butte say a 72-year-old man cut the throat of another man during an argument over money at a retirement and assisted living facility.

Butte-Silver Bow County Coroner Lee LaBreche says the 72-year-old victim died sometime early Wednesday. Officials are trying to locate his family and have not released his name.

Sheriff Ed Lester says John Grubbs Sr. was arrested on suspicion of deliberate homicide. He was jailed with his bond set at $250,000.

Police say the two residents of the 60-unit Continental Gardens had been drinking and argued about money when Grubbs attacked the other man with a butcher knife.

An employee who witnessed the fight called police.

The victim was dead when they arrived.

LaBreche says an autopsy is planned Thursday.
