SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - A coastal Georgia man has been sentenced to life plus 60 years in prison in a drive-by shooting that killed a man and injured two women in May.
The Savannah Morning News reports (https://bit.ly/1ddqEzv ) 24-year-old Mark Adkins Jr. was sentenced Wednesday in the death of 24-year-old Frederick Early. Adkins must serve 30 years of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
Assistant District Attorney Christy Barker said there was no clear motive in the shooting and pushed for Adkins to be sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.
The victim’s mother sat across from Adkins in court and said she forgives him and sympathizes with him.
