STERLING, Colo. (AP) - The Sterling Police Department says the parents of a 2-year-old child who died in a house fire in January have been charged with child abuse resulting in death and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The Sterling Journal-Advocate reports (https://tinyurl.com/ptk4p2j) Julia Welton and Christopher Welton were indicted Tuesday by a grand jury and arrested.

No other details about the investigation were available.

The boy’s mother, father and another child escaped the fire. The father suffered burns to his hands.
