JENA, La. (AP) - Authorities say a Pineville-area man was arrested in the shooting death of his wife, whose body was discovered in LaSalle Parish.

Rapides Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested 56-year-old Michael James Worley on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Mary Worley, also 56.

The Town Talk reports (https://townta.lk/OB48oz) Worley was booked at the Rapides Parish Jail Tuesday and then released to the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office, where he remains. Bond has not yet been set.

Rapides Parish detectives found Mary Worley’s body Friday in a gravel pit off La. Highway 28 East in LaSalle Parish. Autopsy results are pending, but LaSalle Parish Sheriff Scott Franklin says Mary Worley was shot in the back of the head.

It was unclear whether Michael Worley has an attorney.
