COVINGTON, La. (AP) - The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office says there are about 6,000 delinquent property tax accounts for the 2013 tax year.

Sheriff’s officials say accounts can be made current by paying the base tax, accumulated interest and a certified notice fee through the end of March.

An additional 1 percent interest and $35 abstract fee will be added to all unpaid accounts on April 1.

Taxes can be paid online anytime at www.stpsopayments.com, or in person Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the St. Tammany Parish Justice Center in Covington or the Sheriff’s Department Administration Building in Slidell.

Payments can also be mailed to St. Tammany Tax Collector, P O Box 608, Covington, La. 70434. They must be postmarked by March 31 to avoid the additional fees.
