SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Taxpayers in a South Carolina city will pay two police chiefs after rehiring the one who was fired last year.

WYFF reports (https://bit.ly/1fAsILT ) that Simpsonville City Council now is grappling with how to pay both ousted police Chief Keith Grounsell and acting Chief Steve Moore the same $75,000 salary.

Council members met behind closed doors Saturday to discuss how they’ll pay for both chiefs, plus 14 months of back pay for Grounsell.

Grounsell was fired last year after just a few months on the job. The council and mayor said then he was not a good fit for the post.

New council members said Grounsell was wrongfully fired and reinstating him was best. The new city council also parted ways last month with the city administrator.
