FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities in Lauderdale County have charged a woman with posing as a nurse to get into homes of elderly residents and steal their purses and medications.

TimesDaily reports (https://bit.ly/1gCwnct ) 41-year-old Carolyn Watson was jailed on 10 counts of burglary and theft plus related charges.

Lauderdale County sheriff’s investigator Travis Clemmons said Wednesday that Watson would pose as a home health nurse and talk her way into people’s homes. He said she often had a young boy with her and would use him as a distraction.

Authorities say Watson gained access to at least 10 homes. Investigators tracked her down after reports of burglaries starting coming in earlier this month. She was questioned by sheriff’s investigators Tuesday and charged on Wednesday.

It was not known if Watson had an attorney.
