SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for persons interested in becoming a reserve deputy.

Reserve deputies are volunteers who complete state-required training similar to the training of full-time sheriff’s deputies. They are used to supplement full-time law enforcement officers and are subject to the same rules and regulations as full-time sheriff’s office employees.

Reserve deputies also are qualified to carry a weapon and make arrests.

Reserve deputies must be at least 21 years old and have no criminal record. Interested applicants should contact the sheriff’s office personnel division at 318-681-0812. Applications also can be obtained online at www.caddosheriff.org

Training for the next Reserve Academy is scheduled to begin in the spring.
