EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - A man whose dog was swept into the Willamette River and killed at a Eugene park is warning others of the danger.

Robert Dean tells KVAL (https://bit.ly/Nx6Nyz ) other pets or even children could be swept away.

He and his teenage daughter were out with their dog last Saturday at Alton Baker Park when the border collie named Eddie ran into the duck pond.

Dean says the Eddie was swimming back when the current pulled him under.

Bystanders pulled the dog from the water downriver but he was already dead.
