DEWITT, N.Y. (AP) - State police say an autopsy has been conducted in an effort to determine the cause of death for a woman whose body was found near her suburban Syracuse home.

Troopers say they were called to Louise Waite’s home Wednesday morning after the 72-year-old was reported missing from her home in the town of DeWitt. Troopers started a search and soon afterward found her body in a roadside ditch near her house.

Police say an autopsy was conducted later Wednesday by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office. The results are pending.

Troopers say Waite lives with her husband, who’s is in his 80s. She was last seen Tuesday evening in her home.
