RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A federal appeals court has upheld a Maryland man’s conviction for conspiring to commit armed robberies of delivery trucks that were distributing Apple Inc. products throughout the region.
Khalil Blackman of District Heights, Md., was convicted by a judge in Alexandria for his role in three 2011 robberies. On appeal, Blackman claimed the evidence was insufficient.
Blackman was present for only one robbery and didn’t carry a gun. A three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said that didn’t matter because Blackman was involved in the planning when the use of a gun was discussed, and he advanced the conspiracy by selling goods stolen in all three robberies.

The panel Friday also ordered Blackman to forfeit more than $136,000. The lower court had refused to order forfeiture.
