Florida man who killed cousin, wife to keep cousin from testifying scheduled to die
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - A man convicted of killing his cousin and his cousin’s wife to prevent him from testifying in a burglary case is scheduled to die April 23 at Florida State Prison in Starke.
Gov. Rick Scott signed a death warrant Wednesday for 47-year-old Robert Eugene Hendrix.
Court records show that Hendrix, and his cousin, Elmer Scott, were arrested for breaking into a house in 1990. Scott accepted a plea deal that would keep him out of prison if he testified against Hendrix, who was facing at least four years in prison.
Before the case went to court, Hendrix went to Scott’s Lake County home, where he shot Scott in the head and slashed the throat of Scott’s wife, Michelle.
Hendrix discussed the murders with his girlfriend and others, who testified against him at his murder trial.
