JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal from Brandon Grindle, who was found guilty of murder in 2011 in Marion County.
Grindle was sentenced to life in prison for the shooting death of Charles Ray Brown Jr. Authorities say Brown was shot to death in a drive-by shooting on a street in Columbia in 2010.
Prosecutors say the shooting resulted from an ongoing dispute between the two men. Brown was shot multiple times.
Court records show Brown was questioned by police shortly before his death and identified Grindle as the shooter.
The state Court of Appeals upheld Grindle’s conviction last year.
Grindle argued police testimony about what Brown said was hearsay.
The Appeals Court says such dying declarations are an exception to the hearsay rule.
