HONOLULU (AP) - Fourteen students will be vying to be Hawaii’s spelling bee champion.

Hawaii’s public television station will be airing a live broadcast of the competition on Saturday at 7 p.m.

PBS Hawaii President and CEO Leslie Wilcox will host and Hawaii Literacy Executive Director Suzanne Skjold will be the pronouncer.

The finalists are fourth- through eighth-graders representing public and private schools statewide. The state champion will represent Hawaii at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.

The state championship will also be streamed online at PBSHawaii.org.
