MARTINY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 39-year-old man has died in a snowmobile crash in the central Lower Peninsula.

The Mecosta County sheriff’s department tells MLive.com (https://bit.ly/1kVhbwx ) that the crash happened about 9:20 p.m. Friday in Martiny Township, between Big Rapids and Mecosta.

The department says the Big Rapids man had been drinking and says falling snow limited visibility when his snowmobile hit a tree.

MLive.com says the man’s name wasn’t immediately released. The Associated Press left a message for the sheriff’s department Sunday afternoon seeking an update.
