PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard has scheduled a tour around the state to announce his plans for the upcoming election.
The Secretary of State’s office certified Daugaard’s nominating petitions last week.
The Republican governor on Tuesday will stop in Sioux Falls, Rapid City and Pierre.
He is scheduled to host public events at 9:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn City Centre in Sioux Falls; at 1 p.m. at the Black Hills Visitor Information Center in Rapid City; and at 5:15 p.m. at the Ramkota hotel in Pierre.
State Rep. Susan Wismer and the former head of the state wildlife agency Joe Lowe are seeking the Democratic nomination. The last Democrat elected governor in South Dakota was Richard Kneip in 1974.
