PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Police in Newberg, Ore., arrested a man accused of shooting his mother in the hand with a crossbow, and the injury led to the amputation of a finger.
Capt. Jeff Kosmicki says Randall Bracken was arrested Sunday night about 30 minutes after his mother ran to a neighbor’s house to report the incident.
When police found the 21-year-old, he was carrying a loaded compound bow in a “low ready” position and was refusing to follow orders. But Kosmicki says Bracken quickly changed his mind and gave up.
Bracken was booked into the Yamhill County jail on charges of assault, menacing and unlawful use of a weapon.
Kosmicki says Bracken’s mother was taken to a Portland hospital, where her injured finger was amputated.
