CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - Cranston police say they busted a high-ranking member of a Providence street gang with 18 pounds of marijuana.

Police say they learned there would be a pot delivery to an address on Jordan Avenue, set up surveillance and watched as a man retrieved a package left outside a side door last week. The man put it in the trunk of a car and drove off.

Authorities told The Providence Journal (https://bit.ly/1iXHstW ) that they stopped the car, found the marijuana and arrested 36-year-old Nirandone Sitthirath of Providence. Police say he’s the leader of the Young Bloods gang.

Officers also seized Sitthirath’s car and nearly $700 in cash that he was carrying.

Sitthirath is detained without bail on marijuana possession and probation violation charges. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
