IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - An Iowa City standoff has ended with the arrest of a fugitive wanted on warrants alleging escape and weapons and drug offenses.

Iowa City police say officers had learned that 43-year-old Brandon Thompson was in a room at a motel on the northeast side of the airport. Officers were dispatched around 8 p.m. Tuesday. Police say Thompson wouldn’t open the motel room door or respond to officers after they knocked on the room door.

Police say members of the department’s Special Response Team finally entered the room around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday and took Thompson into custody. No injuries have been reported.

Online court records don’t list the name of Thompson’s attorney.
