PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a shoplifting suspect shot and wounded by Phoenix police is facing 11 counts of retail theft.

Police say 34-year-old Rodney McCullough suffered a gunshot wound to his right shoulder area.

Officers responded to a report of shoplifting at a north Phoenix Walmart last Friday night.

But the suspect fled when he saw a uniformed store security person.

He got into his car and was trying to drive away when the officer punched the driver’s door window out.

The policeman’s arm got entangled in the window and he was dragged alongside the vehicle for several feet until he broke free and fired his handgun one time.

McCullough was found Saturday at a Phoenix apartment and police say he may be linked to several other store thefts of electronic equipment.
