PLYMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - A State Department official is visiting New Hampshire to discuss U.S. engagements in Syria, Burma and other parts of the world.

Rick Barton is the assistant secretary for conflict and stabilization operations. He’s speaking Thursday at Plymouth State University and the University of New Hampshire’s Manchester campus as part of a three-state northeast tour.

In Plymouth, Barton will discuss what he calls a “golden opportunity for diplomacy.” In Manchester, the focus will be on U.S. leadership in emerging crises.

Barton was invited to the state by the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire.
