DOUGLASS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A 3-year-old western Michigan boy is in critical condition after being pulled from a pond behind his Montcalm County home.

WOOD-TV and the Grand Rapids Press report that boy is being treated Saturday at a Grand Rapids hospital.

Authorities say the boy’s father found him Friday afternoon in the pond outside their Douglass Township home. The boy was not breathing and his father started resuscitation efforts. The child was breathing on his home when police arrived.

It was not immediately known how long the boy was in the pond.
