STOKE, England (AP) - Stoke earned its third straight Premier League victory by beating Hull 1-0 Saturday to firmly entrench itself in the middle of the table.

Peter Odemwingie scored the winning goal in the 62nd minute and the hosts hung on to take its points total to 40 - traditionally seen as the number that will guarantee avoiding the drop. And 10th-place Stoke seem all but certain to stay up after Odemwingie collected the ball and fired in from the edge of the box for his fourth goal in three games.

Earlier, Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic kept Hull scoreless when he pulled off a great save to keep out David Meyler’s deflected shot.

Hull remained on 33 points in 14th place.
