EAST BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) - The Kitsap County sheriff’s office says a Bremerton, Wash., woman has been arrested for investigation of arson and second-degree murder in a Feb. 23 house fire that killed a man.

Deputy Scott Wilson said detectives arrested 45-year-old Shelly Margaret Arndt on Friday night.

Wilson says 37-year-old Darcy Edward Veeder, Jr. was found dead inside an East Bremerton home after the fire. He had been asleep on a couch in an upstairs living room.

The deputy says Veeder and Arndt were involved in a long-term domestic relationship. They were overnight guests at the house.

Veeder was one of eight people asleep in the house when the fire was discovered. Everyone else got out safely.

Arndt is expected to make an initial appearance Monday in Kitsap County District Court. She was held on $1 million bail.
