…WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CST THIS

MORNING…

…WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST TODAY…

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL

9 AM CST THIS MORNING. A WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT

UNTIL NOON CST TODAY.

* SHORT TERM TRENDS…AN AREA OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW WILL CONTINUE

INTO THE MID MORNING HOURS ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI

AND THE EASTERN OZARKS. IN ADDITION…BITTERLY COLD WIND CHILLS

BETWEEN 10 AND 20 DEGREES BELOW ZERO WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE

MORNING HOURS.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED…SNOW WILL PERSIST THROUGH MID MORNING

ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI AND THE EASTERN OZARKS.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…STORM TOTAL SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS ARE

EXPECTED TO BE BETWEEN TWO AND FIVE INCHES ACROSS THIS AREA.

* WINDS AND VISIBILITY…NORTHERLY WIND GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH WILL RESULT

IN SOME BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW.

* WIND CHILL VALUES…WIND CHILLS BETWEEN 10 AND 20 DEGREES BELOW

ZERO WILL CONTINUE THIS MORNING.

* IMPACTS…TRAVEL ACROSS THE REGION HAS BECOME DIFFICULT AND

DANGEROUS. BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW MAY LIMIT THE

VISIBILITY TO LESS THAN A MILE AT TIMES. VERY COLD TEMPERATURES

WILL RESULT IN A RISK FOR FROSTBITE AND HYPOTHERMIA FOR ANYONE

WITHOUT PROPER SHELTER.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER

CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF

SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. ONLY TRAVEL IN

AN EMERGENCY. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL…CONSIDER TAKING A WINTER STORM

KIT ALONG WITH YOU. THIS KIT SHOULD INCLUDE SUCH ITEMS AS TIRE

CHAINS…BOOSTER CABLES…A FLASHLIGHT…SHOVEL…BLANKETS…

EXTRA CLOTHING AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT WOULD HELP YOU SURVIVE IN

CASE YOU BECOME STRANDED.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS

WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN

FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.

IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS…MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND

GLOVES.
