WASHINGTON (AP) - All Metrobus service will remain suspended for the rest of the day due to the winter storm.

Metro says it expects to restore bus service on most routes on Tuesday. But some routes may still be subject to detours due to road conditions. Metrorail continues to operate.

The transit agency announced Sunday that no buses would operate during the Monday morning commute. There is also no MetroAccess service for disabled riders. The announcement came before government or school closings were announced.

Bus services in surrounding areas also have been suspended, including in Arlington, Fairfax and Montgomery counties.

A winter storm warning remains in effect for the Washington area through 6 p.m. The National Weather Service is predicting 4 to 8 inches of snow is possible.
