STERLING, Ill. (AP) - Authorities have identified a teenager who died in an accidental shooting at a state trooper’s home over the weekend.

Illinois State Police officials say 15-year-old Matt Anderson of Rock Falls died Saturday at the trooper’s residence in the Rock Falls area.

The state police haven’t released the name of the trooper citing an ongoing investigation. A preliminary investigation indicates the incident involved two male teenagers.

Rock Falls Township High School Superintendent Ron McCord says Anderson was a freshman who was at the home of a close friend when the shooting occurred.
