FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Police say a Fort Wayne teenager was killed when a driver fleeing a shooting ran a red light and struck her car.

The Journal Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1e1pH8f ) that 17-year-old Haley M. Nellum died at the scene early Saturday. Nellum was a sophomore at Bishop Dwenger High School. Nellum played basketball and volleyball there.

The driver of the other car faces preliminary charges of driving while intoxicated causing death, aggravated battery and criminal recklessness causing serious bodily injury.

Police say witnesses told officers two cars fled the parking lot of a tavern just after midnight when shots were fired. The crash happened three minutes later.

About the same time, a shooting victim went to a hospital in another car that police say had bullet holes in it.
