COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - An assistant music professor from Malone University in northeast Ohio has been chosen to direct the long-running All-Ohio State Fair Youth Choir.

A statement from the fair says Dr. Jon C. Peterson of Canton will be responsible for recruiting, choosing and managing about 200 high school singers from around the state to participate in the choir. Peterson currently is director of choral activities at Malone.

The members of the youth choir gather in Columbus about a week before the fair and have a limited time to learn their music. They will perform six to eight times daily during the fair.

This year’s state fair runs from July 23 to August 3.
