SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Springfield authorities say no charges are expected from a hospital shooting last year that left one man dead and his wife wounded.

A police report says 69-year-old Booker Cox died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. He was hospitalized for renal failure. His 70-year-old wife was also shot but survived. The report says the shooting was a failed double-suicide.

The Springfield News-Leader reports (https://sgfnow.co/1hPKpcf ) the police documents, obtained through a Sunshine request, give the first detailed accounting of the Nov. 30 shooting. The report says a note at the scene indicated the couple, together for 50 years, decided to commit suicide and that no one will be charged.

The police report says Cox’s wife told officers and hospital staff that she shot herself, and Booker Cox shot himself.
