MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in a drunken driving crash that killed a father of three last year.
Newsday (https://bit.ly/1dIkJ5A ) says Brian P. Daly of Valley Stream is expected to get 12 years in prison when he is sentenced in July.
The defendant left a bar and ran a red light in Franklin Square in February 2013. He slammed into a minivan driven by Christopher DeCrescito.
The victim’s widow couldn’t be in court Monday. Family friend Rose DeVito said Denise DeCrescito was hospitalized after a stress-related flare-up of multiple sclerosis symptoms.
The prosecutor says DeCrescito plans to speak at the sentencing.
Besides manslaughter and driving while intoxicated, Daly pleaded guilty to assault and criminal possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.
