SANTA MARIA, Calif. (AP) - A search warrant says a Santa Maria teacher and a 16-year-old student had a sexual relationship that lasted for as long as five months and took place in his classroom and a hotel room.

The warrant was obtained by KSBY News ( ) in San Luis Obispo and describes details of the relationship between 53-year-old Pioneer Valley High School social science teacher Brian Hook and a 16-year-old student. He was also the varsity girls basketball coach.

The student claims she started the relationship with a kiss after class.

Hook has been in custody since Feb. 20 when he was arrested. He pleaded not guilty Friday to four felony sexual acts with a minor. He remains in jailed on $100,000 bail.

The search warrant was released by the Santa Barbara County Superior Court.

On Friday, Santa Maria Joint Union High School District Superintendent Dr. Mark Richardson said, when possible, “we try to discourage teachers from being alone with one student.”

There are six security officers and one resource officer who patrol and secure the high school campus, school officials said. In addition, they said classroom doors lock from both inside and outside, but can be opened with a key from the outside.

The warrant says the teenager, referred to as Jane Doe No. 1, received a voicemail from a woman who was identified as Mrs. Hook in November and she “tells Jane Doe No. 1 by name to stop contacting her husband because it is inappropriate.”

Hook and his wife have five children. She also works at Pioneer.

Hook is scheduled to return to court Thursday in Santa Barbara County Superior Court.
