SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - A foundation from Tulsa, Okla., has donated $3.5 million to the University of Notre Dame to help endow a drug discovery and development research center in the school’s college of science.

The university said Tuesday that the gift from the William K. Warren Foundation will support drug discovery by faculty members with expertise in areas such as neurological and central nervous system disorders, infectious disease, cancer and rare diseases.

The foundation’s gift will be combined with a previous gift valued at $6.5 million that also supports the drug research center.

The university says the center will expand Notre Dame’s entrepreneurial efforts by cultivating relationships with other participants in the field of drug development.
