COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say six elementary students were taken to a hospital with what were described as minor injuries after a crash involving a school bus in Jackson County.

The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports (https://bit.ly/MNq8eI ) the sheriff’s department says a pickup driven by a 16-year-old girl lost control and collided with the bus on Wednesday morning in Columbia Township.

The Columbia Elementary students and the pickup driver were taken to the hospital by either ambulance or family members.

Columbia School District Superintendent Pam Campbell says the pickup driver is a Columbia Central High student. Campbell says the bus had dropped off high school students and only elementary and middle school students were on the bus at the time.

Some other school buses were delayed from arriving on time due to the crash.
