PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - A public hearing has been scheduled to evaluate the potential environmental consequences of a new generation of air refueling tankers at New Hampshire’s Pease Air National Guard.

The hearing is scheduled for Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Portsmouth City Hall.

The National Guard Bureau has prepared a draft environmental impact statement regarding the 12 KC-46A tankers.

The Air Force selected Pease Air National Guard Base in Portsmouth as the top choice for the Air National Guard-led KC-46A operating base. It is evaluating environmental conditions at the site and at alternative locations: Forbes Air National Guard Station, Kansas; Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J.; Pittsburgh ANGS, Pa.; and Rickenbacker ANGS, Ohio.

A public hearing is being held at each location.
