LIBERTY, Miss. (AP) - A 26-year-old Bude man has pleaded guilty in Amite County Circuit Court to manslaughter for the strangulation of a woman last summer.

Matthew Wayne Moore pleaded guilty Tuesday, more than two months before his May 13 trial.

The Enterprise-Journal (https://bit.ly/NxlQca ) reports Moore was sentenced to 20 years, with credit for his less than one year served in the Amite County Jail. He also was ordered to pay $4,480 to the county for DNA testing conducted during the investigation.

Moore was arrested last June after Renee Lynette Perkins was found dead May 24 in a home she shared with her sister and Moore, her sister’s boyfriend.

Amite County Sheriff Tim Wroten says Perkins had been discussing Moore vacating the home since he was unemployed and did not help around the house.
