OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Chelsea Gardner scored six of her 29 points in overtime as eighth-seeded Kansas defeated No. 9 seed Kansas State 87-84 in the opening round of the Big 12 tournament on Friday night.

Kansas (13-18) will play No. 1 seed Baylor (26-4) in the quarterfinals Saturday.

Kansas State used an 11-5 run to open overtime, taking an 84-78 lead with 2:11 to play. Natalie Knight made two free throws, Asia Boyd converted a three-point play, and Gardner was 4 of 4 from the line to cap the scoring. The Wildcats missed two shots and committed two turnovers down the stretch.

Gardner scored with 10 seconds to play in regulation to give Kansas a 73-71 lead. KSU’s Breanna Lewis grabbed Leticia Romero’s blocked layup attempt and scored with a second left, sending the game to overtime tied at 73.

Breanna Lewis had 20 points and 14 rebounds for Kansas State (11-19).
