AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Tiarel Franklin made one free throw with 9 seconds to play, lifting Laneville to a 55-54 win Friday night over Cumby Miller Grove in the Class 1A Division II semifinals.

Franklin, who had attempted only two free throws earlier in the game, stepped to the line after Miller Grove’s Patrick Covington tied it moments earlier. Franklin made his first attempt but missed his second.

Miller Grove quickly moved the ball upcourt and Covington passed to Aaron Smith, but Smith’s long 3-pointer at the buzzer was well short. Smith had made three from long range.

Dontavious Harris scored 30 points for Laneville (33-6) and made eight 3-pointers. Covington had 25 points for Miller Grove (27-10) on 11 of 13 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds.
