CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - Police say a 17-year-old male student at Carlsbad High School is facing charges that he raped two girls, including one in a campus restroom.

The Current-Argus reports (https://bit.ly/1g8V0lg) that according to a criminal complaint, a female student alleges the suspect cornered her Feb. 20 and offered sex in exchange for an energy drink.

The victim says he raped her in a stall after she refused.

Police say a second young woman came forward during the investigation and alleged the same student raped her on two different occasions.

Police say the teenager is charged with three counts of criminal sexual penetration.

They did not say whether he will be charged as an adult.

Carlsbad Municipal Schools said Friday that officials are cooperating with investigators and student safety is a top priority.
