YORK, Pa. (AP) - Pittsburgh’s mayor and a host of other politicians from western Pennsylvania have endorsed Democrat Tom Wolf for governor.

Mayor Bill Peduto, Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, U.S. Rep. Mike Doyle and Allegheny County Democratic Committee Chairwoman Nancy Mills are among dozens of elected and party officials from the region who pledged their support on Saturday.

Wolf, who’s never run for public office, is one of seven Democrats seeking the party’s nomination to challenge Republican Gov. Tom Corbett. The primary election is May 20.

The York County businessman has been airing TV ads statewide since Jan. 30, thanks largely to the $10 million he gave of his own money to his campaign. The ad exposure has made him the first candidate to break away from the primary pack in independent polls.
