TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - Makala Roper scored 17 points to lead Cleveland to a second straight Class 3A state title with a 54-46 victory over Bishop Blanchet on Saturday night.

Cleveland won both regular season meetings between the schools by double digits, including a 75-37 blowout in January. This one wasn’t as easy.

Cleveland scored 13 points off eight turnovers by Bishop Blanchet in the first half in building a 33-25 lead.

The teams traded baskets early in the second half before a 6-0 Bishop Blanchet run closed the gap. Taylor Chambers then scored and was fouled to pull within three, 45-42, but failed to convert the three-point play.

Blanchet then missed several opportunities underneath the basket that would have further closed the gap. Myzhanique Ladd and Jayde Christopher combined to score the next seven points for Cleveland to take a 52-42 advantage and seal away the victory.

Ladd added 16 points and nine rebounds for Cleveland.

Jaydn Bush scored 10 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the way for Bishop Blanchet. Chambers also finished with 10.

Earlier on Saturday, Shelby Cansler scored 24 points to lead Bellevue to a 70-61 victory over Wilson to take third place. Bellevue shot 50 percent from the field for the game and converted 18 of 22 attempts from the foul line. Violet Morrow scored 21 points and Josie Matz added 14 to lead the way for Wilson. Mandy Steward added 12 four Bellevue.

Also, Natalia Bazan had 16 points and seven rebounds to lead Sunnyside as they defeated University 56-42 to take fourth place.

After trailing 27-25 at halftime, Sunnyside outscored University 21-4 in the third quarter to break the game open. Ashley Woods led University with 14 points but was the only player to reach double figures. Selena Rubalcava scored 11 and Emilee Maldonado added 10 for Sunnyside.
