MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (AP) - Six jail inmates in southern Illinois’ Jackson County are charged with mob action related to an alleged outburst last week at the lockup.
Prosecutors tell the (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan (https://bit.ly/PTMP29 ) that the alleged unruliness happened after the inmates disregarded orders to go to their cells. The criminal complaint also says some of the inmates armed themselves with unspecified weapons.
One of the inmates, 26-year-old Kely Arbuckle, had been sentenced that day to 100 years in prison for a 2013 shooting death of a 20-year-old former Marion High School football standout.
Online court records don’t show whether he has an attorney on the latest charge.
