TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A doctor, a lawyer and two chiropractors are among 12 people charged in what authorities say was a scheme in New Jersey to recruit motor vehicle accident victims as patients.
Acting Attorney General John Hoffman announced Thursday a 45-count indictment charging 12 people with racketeering, conspiracy, criminal use of runners and other related charges.
Hoffman says the alleged ringleaders, 50-year-old Anhuar Bandy and 53-year-old Karim Bandy ran a Monmouth County-based multimillion dollar scheme using “runners” to recruit the victims.
The two brothers, both of Colts Neck, ran chiropractic facilities and allegedly received millions of dollars in illegal payments by referring patients to medical and legal service providers. It’s not immediately known if they have attorneys.
In addition to the Bandy brothers, those arrested are from Bergen, Morris and Union counties.
