TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a 9-year-old girl was shot and wounded as she walked along a street in New Jersey’s capital city.

Trenton police say the shooting occurred around 2:45 p.m. Monday in the area of Bellevue Avenue and Marion Street. It’s not clear what sparked the shooting or how many shooters may have been involved, but authorities don’t believe the girl was the intended target.

The girl was shot three times and suffered leg and shoulder wounds. She was being treated at a hospital, but further details on her condition were not disclosed.

The girl’s name has not been released.

No arrests have been made.
