PORT ALLEN, La. (AP) - West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s deputies suspect robbery may have been the motive for the shooting at a trailer park off U.S. 190 that left one woman dead.

Sheriff Mike Cazes tells The Advocate (https://bit.ly/RBSUSd ) deputies responded to a call of shots fired Monday afternoon.

Cazes says a woman was found unresponsive inside a mobile home. He says the victim was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival.

Deputies have identified the victim, but Cazes said they are still trying to notify family members.

Cazes said investigators thought the shooting may have stemmed from a domestic situation, but later said they obtained information that leads them to believe the victim may have been robbed.

The sheriff says deputies are searching for a suspect in the shooting.
