FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - A June 12 sentencing is set for a former Fayetteville Elementary kindergarten teacher convicted of striking two students.

Kathleen Wade of Hico was accused of slapping one child in the head while intervening in a verbal dispute between several students on May 2, 2013. The incident occurred as the class was going to the Fayetteville Library across the street from the school.

Wade also was accused of boxing another student’s ears the next day.

Media outlets report that Wade was convicted on two misdemeanor battery counts last week.

She faces up to two years in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.
