CLANTON, Ala. (AP) - Chilton County jurors are recommending the death penalty for a man convicted of murdering a woman after subjecting her to sexual abuse.

The Montgomery Advertiser (https://on.mgmadv.com/RB1Hng ) reports that jurors deliberated less than 30 minutes Monday before unanimously recommending death for 44-year-old James Osgood of Shelby County.

Osgood was convicted of killing 44-year-old Tracy Brown in October 2010.

Evidence showed the man and his girlfriend made Brown perform sex acts at gunpoint. Testimony showed that Osgood told investigators how he cut Brown’s throat and stabbed her twice in the back.

Defense witnesses told jurors that Osgood has substance abuse problems and is a sex addict with multiple psychological problems.

His girlfriend at the time, Tonya Vandyke, also is charged with capital murder and is set for trial in December.
