HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say a southwest Ohio jail inmate due for release asked his mother to bring heroin when she picked him up, and she did, leading to their arrests.

The Butler County sheriff’s office says the 54-year-old woman and her 24-year-old son were arrested May 8 as he left the county jail, less than two minutes after his release.

Police say undercover narcotics agents had received information that day that William Hoadley of Cincinnati had made the request for heroin.

Police say Hoadley and his mother, Robin C. Kelley of Cincinnati, were charged with felony drug possession after about 1 gram of heroin was seized, along with a syringe and other items.

The defendants remained in Butler County Jail on Tuesday. Attorney information and other details weren’t immediately available.
